Forticrete consistently appear at the top of the list of the UK’s best performing architectural masonry manufacturers. In the roofing trade they are best known for their innovative range of concrete roof tiles. In response to the latest changes in UK building regulations, Forticrete have also developed a wide range of dry-fix ridge, verge and hip systems.
The company began trading as ‘Wilkinson Brothers’ in Liverpool in the 1920’s. The name ‘Forticrete’ emerged as a brand name for their manufactured concrete during the second world war. Through the post-war decades, various mergers and acquisitions resulted in continuous expansion of the company and its workforce. Now, Forticrete has around 250 employees working at seven UK sites.
Over the years, Forticrete have produced many products that have become market leaders. In 2001 Forticrete were awarded the Queen’s Award for Enterprise for their innovative development of the popular ‘Gemini’ concrete roof tile.
Forticrete is now part of the Ibstock Building Products group. With their HQ in Ibstock in the East Midlands, this group is now the largest manufacturer of clay and concrete products in the UK.
