Cromar Flashing Tape
Cromar Flashing Tape
Cromar Flashing Tape is a self-adhesive bituminous sealing strip that bonds instantly to provide a permanent watertight seal. This tape can be used for repairing, sealing and protecting.
It bonds to most building materials including; masonry, brick, concrete, wood, slates, metal, concrete roof tiles, glass, plastic and roofing felt. This means that it has a variety of uses such as repairing lead flashing, sealing valley gutters and protecting insulation for pipes and tanks.
Prep the Surfaces
Surfaces must be clean and dust-free before the flashing tape can be applied. The tape must first be cut to the length that is required. To expel the chance of any creases forming it is best to peel back a small section (50mm) of the backing strip and then position the strip into place.
The rest of the backing strip can then be carefully removed, revealing the adhesive side. The tape can then be smoothed out. If possible a seam roller or rounded wood smooth should be used to ensure good contact and reduce any air entering, especially on any edges or overlaps.
When laying more than one strip of the tape adjacent to another it is best to leave a 25mm gap to ensure a watertight seal. This seam must be pressed firmly to ensure a tight seal.
