Insulation PIR Boards
Insulation PIR boards (Polyisocyanurate boards) are now one of the most popular cavity wall and flat roof insulating products on the market. Their impressive insulating capability and easy handling are just two of the reasons that this type of insulation is so widely used.
PIR boards were first developed and patented in the USA in the mid 1970’s. The boards are manufactured by combining chemical compounds in a special formula. During manufacture, a chemical reaction causes escaping gasses to become trapped in a rigid foam. Just like a duvet or wool jumper, the trapped pockets of gas form a very effective barrier to heat. For even better insulation, a reflective foil layer is bonded to the surface of the rigid foam boards.
