Fitting a flash vent is the quick, easy way to provide continuous, 5mm2 airflow along a roof abutment. This simple ventilation solution ticks all of the boxes in terms of low cost, performance and easy installation.
The idea is simple. A vinyl strip with upper and lower surface studs is fixed along the abutment. Normal lead flashing is fixed over the studded strip. The studs are designed to support the lead and create a ventilating air-gap between the flashing, roof tiles and brickwork. The pattern of the surface studs prevents the entry of large insects.
To simplify installation, flash vents come with an integrated, adhesive mastic strip to bond the vinyl to the roof tiles. Delivered in a box dispenser, flash vent can be rolled straight out of the box, directly into place on the abutment. Copper clips are supplied with the kit to ensure secure fitting.
Flash vent has passed BRE tests for performance in extreme weather conditions. This adaptable ventilation solution is suitable for abutments covered with slate, flat or profiled roof tiles. Single rolls of flash vent are suitable for roofs with a minimum pitch of 15 degrees. Lower roof pitches can be handled by doubling the width of the roll.
