Vapour Barriers for Roof Windows
As we try to improve insulation and air tightness of our buildings, the correct fitting of roof windows becomes ever more important.
Vapour barriers improve upon the standard fitting method of roof windows in two ways:
- By improving air-tightness of a building, insulation is improved and less energy is required to heat the room.
- Through the sealing of gaps between the window frame and roof components, risk of condensation is dramatically reduced. (In standard installations, moisture laden air emanating from the living space and condensating in the unseen areas of the roof void around the window frame, can be a significant contributor to patches of damp).
