VELUX Flexible Sun Tunnels
The VELUX flexible sun tunnel also known as a light tunnel, sun tube or sky tube will pipe natural daylight down into poorly lit room, stairwell or hallway. Flexible sun tunnels can be installed around awkward angles or obstructions in the roof space.
Flexible sun tunnels are available for both flat and pitched roofs. The pitched roof options come with a choice of in-built flashings suitable for either tiles or slates.
Flexible sun tunnels for flat roofs have a transparent polycarbonate bubble which is mounted on the roof. Daylight entering the bubble is fed down 14 inch diameter, flexible tubing. The tubing has an internal mirrored finish. A special diffuser mounted in the ceiling is designed to disperse the light around the room below.
A pitched roof flexible sun tunnel works in exactly the same way. The main difference is that pitched roof tunnel has a discreet, flat window to gather light. The pitched roof version is suitable for roofs angled between 15º and 60º.
Operating solely on natural daylight, a standard VELUX flexible sun tunnel has no running costs. A special, energy efficient lighting kit is also available to illuminate the tunnel at night.
